Rocknasium is an indoor rock climbing and fitness facility located in Davis, California, just 10 miles west of Sacramento. Established in 1992, we’re proud to be one of the oldest climbing gyms in the country – and even prouder that after more than three decades, we are still independently owned, community-focused, and stoked to climb.

From the beginning, climbing and community have been at the heart of everything we do.

Rocknasium celebrated its 20th anniversary in 2012 by opening an entirely new and expanded gym just a few doors down from our original location. Bigger, better, steeper, and more modern, the new space gave our community even more room to climb – and we’ve been crankin’ out awesome climbing ever since. In 2023, we celebrated 30 years of Rocknasium by expanding our existing space once again, adding a second bouldering wall and a larger, upgraded weightlifting area. And we weren’t done yet. In 2026, we expanded again, opening a dedicated training center designed specifically for our climbing community. The new space features three different training boards, hang boards, and a variety of other training equipment to help climbers of all levels build strength, improve technique, and take their climbing to the next level.

After more than three decades, we’re still growing, still evolving, and – most importantly – still stoked to climb and serve our community.

More Than A Climbing Gym

Rocknasium is a full-service community climbing and fitness facility offering accessible climbing, quality programs, and a welcoming environment for everyone from first-time climbers to seasoned crushers.

Climbing is an incredible workout, a mental challenge, and a great way to escape the everyday grind. With more than 5,000 square feet of climbing terrain, Rocknasium has plenty of space to get stronger, challenge yourself, and have fun. But climbing is just the beginning! We also offer personal training, group fitness programs, weightlifting and cardio equipment, youth programs, birthday parties, team-building events, and much more.

We’re also known for bringing our community together beyond the walls. Throughout the year, we host film festivals, gear demos, clinics, competitions, parties, social events, and our famous potlucks. There’s always something happening at Rocknasium, and there’s always someone to share it with.

As a small, independently owned business built and run by co-owners Mark Leffler and Carter Schmeck, Rocknasium has always had a genuine family feel for both our employees and our customers.

Our vision has never been complicated: create a fun, welcoming, close-knit community where our customers are more than customers – they’re our friends. We strive to provide the highest-quality experience possible while keeping our community at the center of everything we do.
