Boy Scouts
“Boy Scout Climb” is one option for you if you’d like to bring your troop to climb for an afternoon or evening.
“Boy Scout Climbing Merit Badge” training is another option and something that we do quite regularly here at Rocknasium. Many of our staff are BSA Climbing Merit Badge trained and certified.
We highly reccomend that you combine sessions one and two into an Overnight Climbing Merit Badge event. Keep in mind that striving for a merit badge during an all-nighter is a committing task, one that will require your boys to have the attention span and determination to fulffil thier goal. The cost for an overnighter is $25 per scout (non-Merit Badge) and $30 per scout (Merit Badge) with a 20 scout minimum.
Merit badge training is also done over the course of two sessions. The first concentrating on climbing, bouldering and belaying. This session is three hours long and costs $16 per kid.
Scouts will learn: Proper equipment fitting and use, how to correctly tie themselves into the rope using a “follow through figure eight knot”, climbing techniques, belaying and lowering thier partner, along with the proper commands and communication skills needed to become a successful team of climbers.
The second session is more intensive with written, oral and hands on testing. Time for this evening varies depending on the number of scouts (2-4 hours) and costs $21 per scout.
Scouts will learn: Rappelling, more knots, rope/equipment management and proper commands.
